“There is no health without mental health. Mental health is central to the well-being of individuals, families, and societies. Yet mental health services are among the most underfunded.”
Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus
Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO)
"Mental health affects how we think, feel, and act. It determines how we handle stress, relate to others, and make decisions. Mental health is crucial at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood."
Mental Health Foundation (UK)
"Mental disorders are brain disorders, just like diabetes is a pancreas disorder. If you treat these conditions early, like any other disease, the outcomes are much better."
Dr. Thomas Insel
Former Director of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)
What is a mental illness?
A mental illness is a condition that affects a person's thinking, feeling, behavior, or mood in ways that significantly impact daily functioning. These disorders cause distress and impair the ability to function in key areas of life, such as work, school, relationships, and social activities.
Neuro developmental disorders
Neurodevelopmental disorders are conditions usually identified during infancy, childhood, or adolescence. They encompass a range of psychological disorders
Bipolar and Related disorders
Bipolar disorder can be spotted by noticeable changes in mood, activity, and energy levels. It typically involves shifting between elevated states known as mania or hypomania, and periods of depression. These mood swings can vary widely in intensity and duration, affecting how a person feels and functions in daily life.

Formerly called somatoform disorders, they involve significant physical symptoms that lack a clear medical cause.
The current diagnosis focuses on how people think, feel, and behave in response to these symptoms. It highlights the psychological aspects of how individuals interpret and react to their physical sensations.
Trauma and Stressor Related Disorders
Trauma- and stressor-related disorders encompass conditions where individuals have been exposed to stressful or traumatic events. Previously grouped with anxiety disorders, these conditions are now recognized as a distinct category of disorders.
