Neuro developmental disorders

Neurodevelopmental disorders are conditions usually identified during infancy, childhood, or adolescence. They encompass a range of psychological disorders

Bipolar and Related disorders

Bipolar disorder can be spotted by noticeable changes in mood, activity, and energy levels. It typically involves shifting between elevated states known as mania or hypomania, and periods of depression. These mood swings can vary widely in intensity and duration, affecting how a person feels and functions in daily life.

Dissociative Disorders

Dissociative disorders are psychological conditions characterized by disruptions or gaps in aspects of consciousness, such as identity and memory. These disorders involve a disconnection or detachment from one's thoughts, feelings, memories, or sense of identity.

Somatic Symptom Disorders

Formerly called somatoform disorders, they involve significant physical symptoms that lack a clear medical cause.

The current diagnosis focuses on how people think, feel, and behave in response to these symptoms. It highlights the psychological aspects of how individuals interpret and react to their physical sensations.

Trauma and Stressor Related Disorders

Trauma- and stressor-related disorders encompass conditions where individuals have been exposed to stressful or traumatic events. Previously grouped with anxiety disorders, these conditions are now recognized as a distinct category of disorders.

Feeding and Eating Disorders

Eating disorders are defined by obsessive concerns about weight and disrupted eating behaviors that harm both physical and mental health.

Sleep-Wake Disorders

Sleep disorders are conditions characterized by disruptions in sleep patterns, which cause distress and impair daytime functioning.

Disruptive, Impulse Control and Conduct Disorders

Disruptive, impulse control, and conduct disorders encompass difficulties in regulating emotions and behaviors, leading to harm to oneself or others.

These disorders are marked by actions that violate the rights of others, such as destructive behavior and physical aggression.

Depressive Disorders

Depressive disorders encompass a variety of conditions characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, emptiness, or irritability, accompanied by physical and cognitive symptoms. These disorders differ in their duration, timing, and potential causes.

Substance Use
and Addictive Disorders
Neurocognitive Disorders
Schizophrenia Spectrum
and Other Psychotic Disorders

Substance-related disorders involve the misuse of substances like cocaine, methamphetamine, opiates, and alcohol. These disorders can lead to various conditions such as intoxication, withdrawal, and even psychosis or anxiety.

Neurocognitive disorders involve declines in cognitive function that are acquired, not present from birth or early in life.

Schizophrenia is a chronic mental health disorder that profoundly impacts a person's thinking, emotions, and behavior. It is a complex and enduring condition that affects less than 1% of people in the United States.
